Tips for Arranging a Cheese and Charcuterie Platter

tasteforluxury

You got the best cheese and meat for your cheese and charcuterie platter but arranging them properly is also important to enhance its taste. Your focus should be on charcuterie design, as it’s as important as the ingredients on the board.

If you are arranging charcuterie cheeses and meats on the board, consider the following:

Begin with bowls and jars

Instead of directly placing your bowls and jars on the board with ingredients in them, you should place empty bowls and jars on the board. Decide your items and arrange the bowls and jars accordingly. Make sure they are of the same designs.  A

Spacing between bowls and jars should be perfect, leaving space between them for meats, cheeses, and other items. Also, include utensils on the board to pick items from the bowls and spread jellies.

Place the meats and cheeses

After arranging bowls and jars on your board, move to the placement of meats and cheeses. All meats and cheeses shouldn’t be together; instead, keep a proper space between them across the board.

To make your board more pleasing, make sure the appearance of the meats and cheeses are different. Meat color changes after it is cured or smoked. Play with colors to present the best. You can also bring a difference in cheese appearance as some are available in a whole wedge while others are sliced and cubed.

Add pops of color

Other than charcuterie cheeses and meats on a platter, get items that can add a bright pop of color. Select the board type and size based on the meats and cheese you choose. Remember, colors added to your platter can make a major difference in its visual interest.

Common items for a bright pop of color on your board are tomatoes, strawberries, clementines, or carrots.

Fills gaps with smaller items

By now, your board might be in completion mode with gaps.  You can use smaller items, such as fruits and nuts, to fill these gaps. Never combine nuts and fruits; instead, spread them across the board.

The best way to spread nuts and fruits on the board is to put them in a row or pile in one spot and another row or pile in a different spot. This gives the impression that your board is full of varieties.

Give a final touch with herbs

Your cheese and charcuterie platter completes when you garnish it with fresh herbs. You can use herbs like rosemary, basil and thyme, adding interesting colors to your board. These herbs will fill any remaining bare spots and add a lovely fragrance, elevating the sensory experience.

Spread herbs in several spots or tuck some under cheese wedges or bowls to hold them in place.
